First OutSystems Academy and First Year at Create, by Raquel Gouveia
The opportunity to be part of Create's first OutSytems Academy came at a time when I had recently finished my degree in Mathematics and, although I kept a part-time as a math instructor in an tutoring center, I was looking for a working hypothesis with which I identified. At the beginning, due to the fact that it is a different area of my education, I confess that I had some doubts if I should take a risk, but from the first contact with Create I was eager to be part of this team.
As time went on, doubts quickly disappeared whether or not it was a good decision. In the first months at Create, which corresponded to attendance at the first OutSystems Academy, I had the opportunity to learn a lot and, although the main focus of the training was on OutSystems technology, I acquired other skills, such as C#, SQL, and even some database concepts.
The whole experience of the academy was fantastic, not only because of the technical knowledge I learned but also because of the way people like Ricardo Costa and João País endeavored to be always available to help in whatever was necessary and also for the way I was received by the whole team.
With the end of the academy, then came the challenge of joining a project. The time had come to take everything that I had been taught until then and apply it in the real world. At first, I was a little nervous to see the size of the project in question, since during the time of the academy the projects that were proposed to us were quite small. But there was something that was maintained, which was the support from the rest of the team so that the adaptation went as smoothly as possible. And, at this point, I have to thank Rui Soares for, during this phase, has been always available to help in whatever was necessary.
A year after the start of this journey, I already had the opportunity to collaborate in Create's second OutSystems academy, having spent some time supporting Nova people in the academy, but I also had the opportunity to complete the first OutSystems certification, which was always an objective of the OutSystems team for everyone who participated in the academy.
My expectations for the future are to be able to continue working with all these excellent people that I had the pleasure of meeting during this year, to continue learning every day and above all, I hope to continue to grow at Create and with Create.
