The first Umbraco event in Portugal aims to bring together all those working on this open source content management platform and share common experiences and challenges across the community. Create IT has been developing projects with Umbraco since 2011, in customers like the Bar Association, Luz Saúde and Casa da Música. There are currently over 250,000 websites in the world built on Umbraco. The growing adoption of Umbraco in Portugal and the fact that there is no such event yet, led Create IT to advance to the organization of the first Lisbon Umbraco Meetup.

Lisbon, November 16, 2016 - The Lisbon Umbraco Meetup, the first meeting on CMS Umbraco held in Portugal, will take place on November 24th. Organized by Create IT, a Portuguese company focused on the development of critical cross-platform and business support systems, the Lisbon Umbraco Meetup will be held at the company's headquarters in Lisbon, starting at 6:00 p.m., and aims to share information and experiences among all who enjoy and value Umbraco technology.

"The idea came from our passion to work with Umbraco, our CMS of choice", says Nuno Guerra, CEO of Create IT. "Given that there is a growing community of Portuguese professionals working daily with Umbraco, we believe it is relevant and useful to discuss and share experiences. We started doing projects with Umbraco in 2011 and promoted the first official training in Portugal in 2014, the year in which we became a certified partner. Today, at a time when there are over 250,000 Umbraco websites in the world, we organize the first Umbraco Meetup in Lisbon for the community. It's the promotion of excellence", says the CEO.

The event is free and targeted for all Umbraco users, "from developers to operators or content managers who use Umbraco in their daily lives, and also curious who use other types of CMS, but who liked to know more about Umbraco and its potentialities", says Nuno Guerra.

Designed to be extremely informal, with a single presentation and the rest of the time for participants' interventions, the Lisbon Umbraco Meetup also aims to find the challenges faced by everyone who uses this CMS and seek to solve them. The meeting will be led by André Santos and Jorge Correia, both senior consultants, who are the great evangelizers of Umbraco in Create IT.

Why Umbraco?

There are several CMS available in the market. Why Create IT invested on Umbraco? Nuno Guerra explains: "Create IT's experience in using the platform has led to the creation of SmartPortals, the platform of choice for the development of transactional portals since its extensibility makes it an ideal solution to support solutions that integrate with the business systems of our customers".

Create IT also uses Umbraco in its Social Intranet offering, promoting collaboration across organizations through agile content management, cross-matching productivity with Office 365 tools. "Umbraco is a CMS that has all the important functionality to manage a website/portal of the present times", reveals the founder of Create IT. "It's also an extremely versatile and extensible platform", he adds.

Among the Umbraco projects carried out in recent years by Create IT, there are clients such as Casa da Música, Bar Association and Luz Saúde Customer Portal. In the first case, Nuno Guerra highlights, "We used Umbraco for all the content management of the portal, in what was probably one of the largest information architectures on this CMS made in Portugal". In the project of the Bar Association, "Umbraco manages all the contents presented in the Portal, accessed by more than 20 thousand lawyers every day", he concludes.
